    Staying Active In Difficult Times

2020 has been a rough year for everyone, and staying active when you are caught up in the news, social media, or work can be a challenge. Lofty fitness goals don’t work for me right now, but I know I need to keep moving. I’ve found a few ways to keep my motivation up without creating another overwhelming challenge and I’m grateful to be moving and enjoying some time outside again. As it turns out, a couple of new apps on my smartphone were all I needed to create a fun and active summer.

As a VIPKID teacher, I have such a great opportunity to connect with so many other teachers on social media. It was through that community that I found the Facebook group, VIPKID Steppers, and was invited to join in my first StepBet. And my husbands love of all things GPS, led me to discover my own passion for the outdoors again. Now we share a new Geocaching adventure most weekends. While it hasn’t 100% replaced the feeling of taking a vacation, it’s provided some new scenery and a renewed appreciation for all of the beautiful places to see in our own state.

I know that in times like this, my solution isn’t going to be the solution for everyone. We all need to work to find what brings us joy right now and refrain from judging those that aren’t ready to try. Wishing you all peace, good health, safety, and your own definition of happiness.
